House with Commercial Spaces, Cernavodă

Very bad general condition. The immobile hasn’t been rehabilitated and bad taste interventions were done upon it, almost entirely destroying the distinctive decorations of the ground floor. It isn’t a tourist spot.
  • Historic architectural monument category B; code LMI CT-II-m-B-02877
  • Built at the beginning of the 20th century. Unknown architect.
  • Dacia Street, no. 24

The immobie was the residence of a wealthy commercial space owner. The commercial and crafting activities were done on the ground floor, the upper floor was the residence. The architectural style is eclectic, with distinctive Art Nouveau elements.

The upper floor, with an extensive balcony, made of hardware, has (probably) arched windows, it is decorated with plant motif waists and above it is an element specific to the Art Nouveau style, a seashell.

Also above the balcony can be found the embedded stamp with the initials of the owner who commissioned it, F.D. The balcony and the majestic, vaulted entrance, separate the immobile into two perfectly symmetrical sides, each with two pairs of framed windows on the upper floor.
